5 Powerful Skid Steer Snow Attachments You Should Know

Some people see snow as a nuisance, but you see it as an opportunity to put your skid steer snow attachments to work. But which attachment will you use? A parking lot, a narrow walkway, a highway, and a sidewalk each demand a different approach — and different equipment. Having the right snow removal attachments can help you clear it quickly and efficiently.

1. Snow Blower

A skid steer snow blower is a versatile tool to move snow from where you don’t want it, to where you do. With this snow blower you can rotate the spout left, right, up, and down and the blower will send snow 25-30 feet in that direction. Moving the snow back means you don’t have to worry as much about drifts re-coating an area — it’s all spread out and not built tall in one pile for the wind to catch. Keep in mind that blowing is a slower clearing method than something like a blade or pusher if you’ve got a large area.

Powering the Prime snow blower is a custom hydraulic manifold and internal relief valves. It was built to withstand harsh winters and avoid downtime.

Ideal for use in: Residential neighborhoods; Long driveways; Vehicle access paths

2. Snow Bucket

Snow buckets are multi-purpose skid steer attachments — and the first option we tend to suggest. If you’re only getting one snow attachment, this is the go-to. With their deep bucket design, they can be used to:

  • Move snow from the middle of the parking lot to the side.
  • Lift snow up and over fences or pile it high.
  • Carry snow away from an area entirely.
  • Use down-pressure for scraping (with the reversible cutting edge) to scrape off hard packs and ice.
  • Scoop salt, debris, leaves, mulch, firewood, or other material — not just snow!

The Prime Attachment snow bucket can do jobs easily thanks to its visibility cutouts which help drivers in areas where precision is important. If you have locations that have traditionally been cleared with a shovel, a snow bucket can do the job just as well. And faster.

Ideal for use in: Small areas where snow needs to be completely removed from a site.

3. Snow Pusher

When there are large areas that need to be cleared, a snow pusher for a skid steer can do the job 10-20% faster than other types of attachments. Because it’s just grab and push — no lifting, dumping, tilting, or angling side-to-side — you can work fast and with consistency.

A snow pusher runs on skids, so you also won’t mess up landscaping if, say, you’re clearing a lawn or field. Unlike many other attachment options, there’s no downward pressure.

The snow pusher from Prime can be fitted with a Bolt-On-Back Drag so you can easily pull perpendicular to a building and pull the snow back.

Ideal for use in: Parking lots and lawns

4. Snow Blade

A skid steer snow blade can be a valuable tool in your toolbox because of its ability to re-angle and push snow to the left or right, even switching directions on every pass. You can go back and forth while always pushing towards the south side of a lot, for example.

The snow blade from Prime allows you to change its angles up to 30° without stopping. It's tough on snow, but easy on surfaces underneath thanks to its two attached skid shoes and trip-edge blade.

Ideal for use in: Driveways; Streets; Walking paths in commercial spaces

5. Commercial Grade Low Pro Snow Pro

The Commercial Grade Low Profile Snow Bucket from Prime Attachment gives commercial snow removers the benefits of a snow bucket with better visibility and easier skid steer cab access. At only 24” tall but a generous 52” depth, it has the same overall capacity as our traditional snow bucket in a slimmer, user-friendly profile.

Ideal for use in: Parking lots, Wide open areas
